For the Love of Prints

Hello all,

How was your weekend? I had a really awesome one. I ate Lulus Local Eatery for the first time and OMG it was life giving lol. Lulus is a vegan restaurant on S. Grand in St. Louis and even though I’m not vegan, I enjoy vegan food. I ate their sweet potato and black bean burger and  also tried their buffalo cauliflower that taste like hot wings! It was so delicious and healthy at the same time! Now that’s my favorite combination.

On Saturday I got to support one of my friends at her fashion event called “A Spring Way of Life.”  It was a fashion symposium about spring trends and how to incorporate them in your wardrobe. I enjoyed speaking on the fashion panel about post post-partum  fashion. It was a great turn out and everyone walked away with some valuable information.

Speaking of trends, Mixing prints is one of them. Experts say to mix a light print with a dark print. I’ve actually done that here, but I would also tell you to experiment. The light/dark doesn’t have to be a hard fast rule. Experiment to see what works well together.  Try it and let me know how it works!! Have a great week! Xoxo

Hanger Appeal

While shopping a few weeks ago in Marshall’s, I landed on a row of interestingly designed cardigans. I went in the store on a mission to desperately find a few cardigans to hide my growing bump, because I hadn’t made an official announcement of my pregnancy. I don’t wear many cardigans, and I’m picky about them, so I knew this would be a daunting  task. Weaving through the hangers I saw some that I liked, but weren’t quite my style. While searching, I stumbled upon the cardigan that I’m now wearing, but it wasn’t love at first site. I thought “hmm that’s interesting,” but it didn’t grab me. The hanger appeal was non-existent, that is until I saw a lady in the next aisle try it on and that my friends is when I fell in love. The draping and fit intrigued me and I had to have it. I didn’t even try it on. I just took it to the register and paid. This cardigan actually stayed in the bag for a few weeks and I debated on taking it back, but when I put it on with my all black I fell in love again. I really love the upholstery type material that its made out of.  I’m 13 weeks preggo and official and I asked some of my coworkers  and my husband if they could seem my bump? They said no lol, but I see it and know its there:). So the moral of the story is don’t judge a garment by the hanger. It may surprise you! Love love love this look!

Help! I’m pregnant and my clothes are weird!

So, here’s the official announcement! Kenny and I are expecting!!!!!!! Yay! We are so excited especially after the devastation of a miscarriage the first time around. ….So thank you sweet Jesus:)!  The first couple of weeks I was fine, but when I hit the nine week mark…oh it got real!  It got a little harder to get dressed in the morning and especially for events.  My clothes were a little snug or just didn’t fall quite like they used to.  I wasn’t big enough for maternity clothes and I just didn’t know what to do.  So, stalking google pictures of preggo celebrities became my past time.  My style icon, Rachel Zoe, did it best for me.  We have very similar styles which is that boho chic and she found a way to translate her regular style even while pregnant.  I thought it was AMAAYY! All of the maternity clothes, that I saw I hated.  There were too many stripes or it just wasn’t my style.  I visited a few maternity stores and asked many questions.  Do pregnant woman really need all of those gadgets? Belly bands, waist expanders, etc?  I got some great information too from the women over at Motherhood at the St. Louis Outlet malls.  They were very helpful and schooled me on maternity clothes and how you’re the same size the clothes just make room for your growing belly.  That made me a lot more comfortable, but I wasn’t ready to buy just yet.  My husband and I ended up going on a road trip to Nashville to celebrate our one year anniversary and while there we went SHOPPING!! My favorite word.  Well any way i had a inkling to go into Old Navy (hadn’t been in this store in years).  I walked in and saw flowy tops that were my style and ON SALE.  I was so excited.  These were tops that I would wear even if I weren’t pregnant.  I went to the back and saw the maternity section and fell in love with the maxi dresses.  They were fitted, sexy, and still there was room for the baby bump and more importantly ON Sale.  I talked to the manager, because I wanted those dresses in every color, but he said that there were no more, because they were making room for the Spring shipment.  So I immediately went online and there were some great stuff there as well.  I’m feeling a little better about this pregnancy journey.  When you look good you feel good, even if you’re nauseated and puking or not puking just nauseated (that sucks by the way lol:).  During my shopping spree I also found a few cute tops at Ross Dress for Less and  Stylish dress from H&M.  If you’re preggo, but don’t want to spend a lot of money on clothes you will only wear for a few months,  these are three places that I totally suggest that you visit, because even thought it’s only a few months you can still look fly!  What about you? Where do you shop for great maternity wear?

So what to wear during pregnancy?  Well the following will be some of my staples:  Maxi dresses, Cardigans, leggings or jeggings, riding boots, flowy tops, tunics and heels.

Your Chance to dress fab for less with Ross Dress for Less

Soooooo, Ross Dress for Less is definitely a store that lives up to its name.  They have everything from Home Goods to Men, Women and Children’s sections and also fitness, which I love love love!!  Fashionistas have to stay fit as well and Ross helps us look good and stay fit for less.  When I first walked into the store, I headed straight for the dresses.  I saw so many on trend dresses for unbelievable prices.  Leather detail is huge this season and there was a large selection of these types of dresses for low prices and all were designer.  I tried on a few dress and L.O.V.E.D. Ross also has a pretty dope selection of shoes, with namebrands surprising to me.  I can’t tell you the names, but I can say that I can’t believe how affordable they are there.  I’ve seen the same items at department stores for up to 70% percent more than they were at Ross.  I definitely enjoyed my experience at Ross and I will be be back.  In the meantime, I am giving away a $25.00 Ross gift certificate.   See how to enter below! Best Wishes and Happy Shopping!!

I absolutely love this shirt.  Yo hablo espanol and yo quiero a nueva york! (I speak Spanish and I love New York).  I wanted to create a sporty/urban look, so I went for this crop top and a high waisted pencil skirt with zipper detail.  The shape of this skirt is great and offers a lot of versatility.  I can easily pair a blouse or sweater with this skirt and it would be fab!
