DIY Body Mist and Scrub

Happy day loves,  I don’t know about you but my skin gets a little  thirsty for moisture  in the winter and this year it’s been even more obnoxious because of my post pregnancy hormones.  I decided to nurse my little guy and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.  It was challenging at times and I wanted to quit, but I committed to it for at least the first 6 months and I’m so glad that I did. Shiloh will be 6 months this weekend and I can’t believe how time has flown.  However this post isn’t about nursing, it’s about skin! I happen to follow Whole Foods Market (Galleria in St. Louis) on instagram.  The marketing team over there is pretty awesome and have been having some  neat DIY events lately.  A few months ago I made a DIY body mist and I use it every day.  Last month I made a body scrub and it has been excellent for turning my otherwise dry skin into smooth luxurious skin. I sound like a commercial lol, but it’s true.  It is a wonderful product that I got to make myself and it was free!  Even though the event has past.  I gained valuable knowledge that I would love to share with you all.

DIY Over The Headboard Decor

My husband and I closed on our very first home about 6months ago and 4 weeks right after we had Shiloh.  Crazy, I know.  However we are completely in love with our home.  From the time we started to look for a house up until now, I’ve tuned in almost everyday to HGTV.

HGTV makes me feel like I can do anything, but a lot of times I end up doing nothing or I don’t finish a project.  I decided to challenge myself to finish projects that I started.  I actually started this project while we lived in our apartment.  It was originally going to be a herb  pot.  I wanted to grow basil, cilantro and thyme.  As I started to finish this project, I realized that it would go awesome over our headboard if we added bright flowers to the mix and I was right.

This project is pretty simple.  All you need are wood boards and if you go to Home Depot they can cut them down to the size that you need.  I used pipe fitters to fit around the neck of the mason jar and nailed the pipe fitter to the wood with roofing nails.  Roofing nails will not strip your board like screws will.  Lastly, I found this love sign at TJMAX and bought plastic flowers from Hobby Lobby.  I am really pleased with the way it turned out.  So, what  about you?  What DIY projects are you working on?

This was our final walkthrough last August.

What are you thankful for?? DIY Thankful Jar

This is the time of year where we begin to really focus and think about the things that we are grateful for. Sometimes we don’t even think about what we are thankful for until its actually thanksgiving day. I actually got the idea of this thankful jar about a year ago when I saw it on Pinterest. You are supposed to fill it up throughout the year with things that you a are thankful for and ten read them December 31st. Well, I had the best intentions to start this jar but it never happens until recently when I though about it again. I told my hubby “lets go ahead an start this jar ebb thought the year is almost over. So we sat down and began to think about all of the wonderful things that have happened this year, wrote them down and then placed them in the jar.  Out faces lit up as our nostalgia took us to found memories throughout the year. There was one memory that I wrote down that started out found but ended in tragedy and that was the miscarriage that I had not to long ago. When kent and I found out that we were pregnant we were scared and ecstatic all at the same time! When the miscarriage happened it was devastating.  We both cried a lot, but as I was reminiscing I began to be thankful for the fact that I was able to get pregnant and the hope that when the time is right, it would happen again. Thankfulness really does make a difference in your state of being. When you focus on the good in your life it’s hard to concentrate on the negative. So my fiends it’s never too late to start a thankful jar. What are you thankful for today?
